India's Olympic team to Rio is facing further embarrassment as another athlete has tested positive for doping. Inderjeet Singh, India's hope for a shot put medal, too was tested positive for a banned substance.

The Asian Champion was caught using a "fancy sounding" substance in out-of-competition test done on June 22, according to sources. This has put the 34-delegate team, largest ever send by India, to Rio under a shadow.

Singh was the first athlete from India to qualify for the Rio Olympics. The NADA has given the athlete an option to test his 'B' sample, but it has to be tested within seven days. If the second sample too tests positive the Haryana athlete will have to miss the Games.

Singh had won gold medal at the Asian Championships, Asian Grand-Prix and World University Games last year. The 28-year-old had also won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in 2014. He had trained in Pennsylvania, US earlier this year thanks to the funding by the Sports Ministry's Target Olympic Podium (TOP) Scheme.
