India win toss, to bat against New Zealand

CRICKET-IND-RSA (File) India has won 10 tests under Kohli's captaincy

Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test of the three match series against New Zealand at Green Park stadium in Kanpur on Thursday.

India in its historic 500th Test is playing with six batsmen, two fast bowlers and two spinners while the visiting New Zealand are playing with three spinners and two fast bowlers.

India has won 10 tests under Kohli's captaincy.
