India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs in the second Test match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium here on Monday.

Sri Lanka began the day's play trailing by 384 runs, but failed to step up to the pressure and were bundled out for 166 in just 49.3 overs.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest bowler to take 300 wickets in the Test history overtaking former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee. Ashwin took 4-63 in the second innings, and scalped eight wickets total in the match.

The win puts India 1-0 up in the three-match series after the rain-hit opening Test in Kolkata ended in a draw. The final Test match will begin on Saturday at Delhiā€™s Feroz Shah Kotla.
