Track Asia Cup: India add two more golds

Indian cyclists continued their good show at the Track Asia Cup 2017 as they added two more golds, three silvers and as many bronze medals on the penultimate day of the event here in Cycling Velodrome at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here last evening. Sahil Kumar opened India's tally with a Bronze on Day 2 when he finished in 1:06.645s in 1Km Time Trial event of Men Senior. Gold Medal was won by Malaysia's Muhammad Fadhil (1:04.028) and Silver gone to Kazakhstan's Abdul Aziz (1:05.858).

Bayern in a crisis, says coach Heynckes

Football fans can't remember Bayern Munich not talking about winning titles. To achieve the Champions League trophy, to secure the German league title and lift the German Cup seemed to be in the Bavarian football giants' DNA. At present the topic is only a side issue as an analysis of Bayern's new coach, 72-year-old Jupp Heynckes is leading to only one conclusion: The record German champions find themselves in the middle of a crisis.

Ireland to play maiden Test against Pakistan

New entrants Ireland will play their maiden Test against Pakistan on home soil next May, the country's cricket bosses announced on Thursday. Ireland and Afghanistan became full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in June, taking the number of countries who play the five-day format of the game from 10 to 12. An agreement between the two countries was reached during the ICC meeting in Auckland this week. Pakistan's trip to Ireland will take place before their two-Test tour of England which begins in late May.

Online ticket sales for India-NZ T20 from Oct 16

Online sales of tickets for the third India-New Zealand T20 international to be played here on November 7, will commence on October 16. The sales would be through the Federal Bank portal "www.federalbank.co.in" and would close on October 29. Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) website would also carry the link. The online tickets have to be exchanged with the original tickets at Federal Bank's Cotton Hill branch in Vazhuthacud from November 1 to 5 and from the special ticket counters set up near Gate-1 (opposite Karyavattom University campus) on November 5, 6 and 7.

Golfer Lahiri tied 8th at CIMB Classic

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 12 (IANS) Indias golfer Anirban Lahiri fired a five-under 67 opening round to be eighth at the $7 million CIMB Classic on Thursday. The Indian scored six birdies against a bogey on the par-four first hole to share the eighth place with Thailand's Phachara Khongwatmai, American Brendan Steele, Davis Love III, Spain's Rafa Cabrera Bello and South Korea's Sung Kang. They are three shots behind Australian leader, Cameron Smith, who scored a brilliant 64 at the TPC Kuala Lumpur.

Tiger, Sooraj to play cricket for cancer awareness

Actors Tiger Shroff and Sooraj Pancholi will compete on the cricket pitch in an effort to raise awareness about cancer. They will play a friendly cricket match against each other at the INK Cricket Blast, organised by VVIP Universal Entertainment. They will be joined by other celebrities like Sohail Khan, Athiya Shetty, Guru Randhawa, Armaan Malik amongst others for the charity match on October 22.

Ex-Brazil striker Adriano eyes return to football

Former Brazil striker Adriano has announced plans to return to football as he seeks to end his career on his own terms. The 35-year-old is aiming to resume training in January in a bid to attract interest from Brazilian clubs ahead of the 2018 domestic season. "Since stopping I've managed to look after my body," Adriano told TV Globo on Wednesday. 

Yahoo Cricket app gets new look

Web service provider Yahoo has updated its 'Yahoo Cricket' app, giving it a new look for real-time updates and rich content. Available on iOS and Android devices, the app offers features such as ‘Moments You Missed', ball-by-ball commentary, infographics, embedded tweets and a fast source of cricket scores, news and stats. "The refreshed 'Yahoo Cricket' app is a step towards enhancing the match experience for millions of cricket fans in India who crave real-time, quality content and superior fan experiences every day," said Gurmit Singh, Vice President and Managing Director, Yahoo India.
