After cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was honoured with 'Bharat Ratna', another Indian star player is now being pushed for country's highest civilian honour.

All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) has written a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding that Team India's Test captain Virat Kohli be accorded 'Bharat Ratna'.

In its letter, AIGF maintains that “Mr. Kohli is arguably the best cricketer ever to have played in the country and by some estimates has even surpassed the performance of Mr. Sachin Tendulkar.” It also pointed out that Kohli's batting average is among the best in the world.

The 27-year-old right-handed batsman made his Test debut in West Indies in July 2011. He has scored 11 Test and 25 ODI centuries while becoming the fastest cricketer to score 10 ODI centuries. He has also led the Bangalore franchise in the Indian Premier League.
