SWIPE THE VOTE

Indian women 'swipe right' for Hillary Clinton

US-DEMOCRATIC-NATIONAL-CONVENTION:-DAY-FOUR Globally, 73 per cent would vote for Clinton with 80 per cent users matching with her on issues

Move aside looks or education (well, at least for a minute), Tinder users now have a new trait to match on. With the last weekend to go before the much awaited US polls on November 8, the global dating app launched a new feature in 16 countries last month to find out which way their users swing as the big day draws near.

For instance, India came up with a clear vote—about 96 per cent of women surveyed in our country have 'swiped right' for the democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton. As Tinder users in countries such as the US, UK, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the UK weighed in on issues of taxes, immigration, gun control, education and others, their 'vote' swung towards the woman nominee. All except one, Russia, where 71 per cent users said they would vote for Trump despite 76 per cent matching Clinton's views on issues.

Other interesting insights that came up were: Globally, 73 per cent would vote for Clinton with 80 per cent users matching with her on issues. In comparison, 53 per cent of app users in America said they planned to vote for Clinton, 57 per cent preferred a path to citizenship for undocumented citizens, 65 per cent wanted higher taxes for the 1 per cent in contrast with 60 per cent Brazilian users who don't want a tax increase on the 1 per cent. Then, 56 per cent of American users said college tuition should be free, along with 86 per cent of Argentinian users.

The Tinder feature named Swipe the Vote, launched in partnership with Rock the Vote, claims to be one of the largest global polls among millennials ever.
