  • OPPO F1s from the ‘Selfie Expert’ range comes with better front camera features and higher resolution

Selfies are a raging trend of this decade. Much before smart phones with front cameras were launched, we twisted our mobiles (maybe with a VGA camera) in awkward positions to capture ourselves in all our  beauty. We have come a long way from there with phone makers easing our lives by adding that secondary or a' selfie camera' to our phones. Now if you are a selfie queen or a king, your demands from a front a camera are much higher than the rear camera.

At the beginning of this year Chinese smart phone maker Oppo had carved  a niche in the Indian market by launching the selfie-focused F series.  The newly launched F1s, launched in August, is another device from its 'Selfie Expert' series that comes with a range of features to satisfy  the selfie addict. We got a chance to get our hands on this device and here’s what we think:

Compared to its predecessor F1 Plus, Oppo has upgraded the front camera of F1s to a 16 mega pixels one. The Beautify 4.0 technology comes with seven beautify levels, two skin tone modes and upgraded photo-processing algorithms.  There’s also a front screen flash with an auto mode that automatically detects the surrounding light and brightens your selfies accordingly. To fit your entire gang of friends in a groupie there’s the Panorama mode (similar to the F1 Plus). The rear camera of 13 mega pixels comes with a LED flash and f/2.2 aperture.

One more interesting feature of the F1s is its fingerprint scanner that allows you assign five finger prints to directly open apps like WhatsApp, Camera, Facebook, etc with one touch on the home button. We tried using this feature and found it really convenient.

Design wise, the F1s looks stylish with its metal body and curved edges that comes in two color variants gold and grey. The 5.5 inch device comes with IPS TFT screen and 1280 x720 pixels HD display. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

The F1s is powered by OPPO’s Color 3.0 OS, which is based on Android 5.1. In an interaction during their launch event in Mumbai, Will Yang, Brand Manager Oppo India,  explains  that they find Android 5.1 to be more stable and are going to added features from  Android 6.1 to their Color 3.0 OS. The device runs on a 64-bit Octa-core processor with a 3 GB RAM. The 32 GB internal storage is expandable up to 128 GB. It comes with a triple-slot card tray for two nano 4G SIM cards and an SD card. The 3075 mAh battery gives a decent life.

The OPPO F1s is optimized for the selfie crazed user. It is priced at Rs 17,990 and would be available from  August  11 on Amazon and   in Oppo retail stores.
