Claiming his statements were doctored and tampered out of context, controversial televangelist Zakir Naik on Friday said he unequivocally condemned all terrorist activities.

In his interview to the media via Skype from Saudi Arabia, the Islamic preacher dismissed as "misinformation" the claims that he advocated suicide bombings. Claiming that he is a "messenger of peace," Naik said he did not inspire any terrorist, and added that he always condemned suicide bombings and terror strikes. He said such attacks are "anti-Islam" as innocent people get killed in such attacks.

He said he has replied to all the major charges leveled against him and added that no official investigation has been launched against him. He claimed that he is being targetted for running an Islamic channel. He, however, dodged questions on his return to India.

"However, it (suicide attacks) may be used as a tactic of war to save the country. In all other circumstances where innocents are targeted, it is condemnable," he said.
