Two women, who were allegedly carrying beef, were on Tuesday beaten up by the members of a Hindu radical group at Mandsaur railway station in Madhya Pradesh.
The women were first detained by police who had received a tip off that they were carrying beef. Despite the police presence, a crowd of men and women gathered and started beating and abusing the women.
In a cellphone video posted by NDTV, the women can be seen with their backs against the wall and women stepping up to slap the women. The police can be seen asking the crowd to step back, but the crowd does not seem to be stepping back.
The women were bringing the beef from Jaora hoping to sell it in Mandsaur. According to reports on NDTV, the meat is said to be from buffaloes. The women were produced in court and have been remanded in judicial custody. But, no action was taken against the people who attacked them.
