In what would look like a scene straight out of a Bollywood blockbuster, a woman forced her lover to run away with her at gunpoint in a remote village in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Ashok Yadav was reportedly in love with a woman from Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh who was working in Banda of UP. However, his marriage was fixed with another girl. When the marriage ceremony was underway on Monday night, the electricity was cut off by someone.

The woman, along with a few men who were carrying firearms, approached the groom and forced him to come along with her. When Ashok Yadav refused to do so, the woman brandished a gun and took him away at gunpoint even as his relatives watched helplessly.

According to villagers, the woman was heard shouting, “ You can not marry someone else when you are in love with me.”

Hamirpur SP said the police received information about abduction. Upon receiving the news about the incident, the police reached the spot and began investigation. However, they are yet to trace the couple.
