A woman CISF jawan killed herself last night while on duty at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport in Kolkata using the service revolver issued to her. Lagni Biswas, in her mid thirties, was in charge of the security checking at the airport on Wednesday evening. A suicide note, recovered from beside her body, said, "I am ending my life due to trouble in family".

Lagni, who was married, had a difficult family life.  She had recently lent money to one of her relatives leading to disapproval from her family.

Originally from Assam, Lagni was posted in Kolkata airport for last six months. Reportedly, her husband and family used to harass her over her decisions.

At around 11.30pm last night, security personnel heard gunshots and rushed to the area of the airport from where the sound originated. They found Lagni in a pool of blood in the rest room. Lagni had gone to the rest room after completing her duty.

The body has been sent for postmortem and a case of unnatural death has been registered at the airport police station of Bidhannagar.
