A rape case was filed against former Uttarakhand minister Harak Singh Rawat on Friday night on the complaint of a woman.

The case was lodged at Safdarjung police station in South Delhi. A 32-year-old woman had alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party leader molested her at his Green Park residence in September when she had gone to meet him for a job.

Rawat, a former agriculture minister, joined the BJP in May 2016 after staging a rebellion along with a few other Congress leaders, against the Harish Rawat government in the state.
