BJP takes strong lead in Uttar Pradesh

When prime minister Narendra Modi visited Varanasi, he fed cows—a move to fufill wishes. On the day of counting, Yogi Adityanath too was seen feeding cows, praying for BJP’s victory. Initial trends show that Modi magic worked with huge success in UP and the BJP seems to be forming the government in the state with a  big majority.

If the trend continues like this the party will surpass its 1991 performance in the state .

The initial trends show that anti-incumbency worked in UP and the alliance with the Congress failed to give desirable results to Akhilesh Yadav.

When the counting began in the morning, few initial indications made it clear that the SP would fare badly and the balance is tilting in favour of the BJP. For instance, initial trends showed that Aparna Yadav—Mulayam’s daughter—in law trailed in Lucknow, whom the whole Yadav famiy had supported. Then came the news that Shivpal Yadav too was trailing and SP’s senior minister Azam Khan went behind in his pocket borough.

If the trends are converted into actual results, the BJP is going to get huge majority in the state.
