CM's 'power gift' to honest consumers

The UP government, which had announced 24x7 power supply for all from 2018, has come up with a novel plan. It has decided to offer 24x7 power supply to 'honest consumers feeders' from the next fortnight.

'Honest consumers feeders' are those that use electricity in accordance with stipulated load norms and where 90 per cent of electricity bills are being paid by consumers. Besides, loss of line should be minimum for the feeders.

The UP Power Corporation Limited has directed officials concerned to identify at least two such feeders in their respective areas.

Energy Minister Srikant Sharma has initiated this facility in Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr districts of western UP. The provision will soon be extended to other parts of the state.

Gangster Act against Prajapati likely

There seems to be no end to troubles faced by controversial former SP minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati.

In a fresh move, the UP Police have initiated efforts to slap Gangster Act against the SP leader. According to Lucknow DIG Praveen Tripathi, steps are being taken to slap Gangster Act against the former minister as there are four criminal cases, including rape, registered against him.

The cops, who have been preparing a list of major land mafias in the state, will also include the name of Prajapati to the list as his name figures in a land grabbing case in Raebareli. Sources in the police department said a list of illegal properties owned by the SP leader in Amethi has been prepared and these will be seized soon.

Besides, cops who have been helping Prajapati and supporting his illegal deeds will also face action.

Muslim Kar Sevaks do ‘darshan’ of Ram Lalla

A handful of Muslim Kar Sevaks did a ‘darshan’ of Ram Lalla at the disputed Ramjanmabhoomi site of Ayodhya on Wednesday.

After the formation of the BJP government in the state, this is the second time a Muslim delegation visited to disputed site. They had paid a visit to the site on on April 20, bringing along with them a truckload of bricks for the construction of Ram temple there.

The Muslim delegation, led by Azam Khan, president of Sri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Kar Sevak Manch, also visited mausoleum of Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans Das, who was a prominent mahant of Ayodhya and a vocal supporter of the temple movement, on Wednesday.

Khan said after the visit that the construction of temple at the disputed site was a matter of faith for 125 crore people of the country and added that this would also lead to the development of the sacred city of Ayodhya.

Akhilesh Yadav dares BJP

Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has demanded a judicial probe into the recent attack on Saharanpur police chief Love Kumar’s house and dared Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take action against the BJP workers accused in the case.

The former CM said the BJP workers attacked Kumar's house and forced his wife and children to take shelter in a cow shed. “The attack was well planned and conspirator of the incident was the BJP MP from that region,” he added.

Akhilesh said the BJP workers were engaging in such unlawful activities in the western UP to further polarise votes.

The BJP workers had also clashed with people who took out a procession, carrying the portrait of B.R.Ambedkar after the attack on the house of the police chief.
