Former minister’s son holds two PAN cards

Mohammed Abdulla Khan, son of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, came under the scanner for allegedly possessing two PAN cards. He had allegedly submitted a different PAN card when he filed nomination papers to the Election Commission, and a different one for IT returns. The matter came to light after an investigation done by Rampur's District Magistrate who has sent his report to the office of chief electoral officer. A complaint was registered by RSS worker Aakash Saxena who is the son of a BJP minister. Saxena has also demanded to annul legislative assembly membership of Mohammed Abdulla Khan and lodge an FIR against him.


Akhilesh’s convoy skips toll tax

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s convoy of about 200 vehicles going from Lucknow to Faizabad crossed the Ahamedpur toll plaza without paying toll tax. This has been confirmed by the toll plaza manager Arvind Singh Chauhan who said that this has caused loss of Rs 17,000 to the state exchequer. According to project director P. Shiv Shanker, there is no exemption for former chief ministers. However, he added that the matter is yet to come to him. Akhilesh and his team were on their way to address a rally in Faizabad.


Rahul Gandhi 'missing'

Amethi, which also happens to be Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency, witnessed an interesting incident over the past few days. Posters claiming Rahul Gandhi to be missing were spotted in various places. The posters in Hindi read: “Amethi ke manniye sansad Rahul Gandhi Amethi se la-pata hai. Jiske karan sansad dawara karayae jane wale vikas karya inke karyakal mein thap hain [Respected MP of Amethi, Rahul Gandhi is missing. Because of this development works supposed to be undertaken during his tenure have come to a halt]. Congress party workers blame the prank on BJP and RSS workers. Rahul Gandhi had last visited Amethi during the assembly polls in February. Though the Congress plans to register an FIR in this connection, police officials say that they have not yet received any complaint. BJP leader Uma Shanker Pandey said that his party men does not have any role to play in this issue.

Watered-down fuel in vehicles

Several vehicles in Lucknow, on Wednesday, stopped running mid-way. Investigations have revealed the culprit to be adulterated fuel—petrol and diesel mixed with water. Consumers protested, and a subsequent inquiry found that three petrol pumps in the city were selling adulterated fuel. These petrol pumps were shut down by authorities.


Voter ids for a meagre sum

A suspected Bangladeshi terrorist who was nabbed by police recenlty has made some startling revelations. He said terrorists who sneak into India from Bangladesh through border states of Tripura, Assam and West Bengal get fake documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter ids easily in India. After that they can freely visit any part of the country. He had come to India in 2011 via Tripura where he got his fake voter id and other documents by shelling out a small amount of money.
