Two stuntmen met their watery grave on Monday afternoon, while shooting for the climax sequence of the upcoming Kannada film "Mastigudi".

The two actors - Raghav Uday and Anil, along with the hero 'Duniya' Vijay had jumped off a chopper into Thippagondanahalli reservoir,  some 35 km away from Bangalore, while shooting an action scene. While, Vijay swam to safety,  the other two went missing.

According to sources, lack of safety precautions is responsible for the tragedy.  The two actors were no expert swimmers,  but did not wear safety harness nor did they rehearse the act.  As the speed-boat developed a technical snag, fishermen rescued Vijay,  but we're unable to save the other two.

In an interview to the local channels just before the stunt was attempted, the two men had confided that they were nervous as they were not good swimmers.  However,  they were excited that they would be flying in a helicopter for the first time in their life. "We have been asked to jump off the helicopter by the master.  We will jump as god will hold us. We will be at peace, " Anil had joked.

Uday leaves behind his parents and three siblings,  Anil is survived by his wife and two children.

The film fraternity has expressed shock over the incident. Actor Jaggesh has condemned the stunt master of the film alleging criminal negligence.  Fire and police department personnel along with expert swimmers have launched search operations in the lake.
