Two terrorists of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in Bangladesh were arrested in Kolkata on Monday. ABT, a proscribed organisation in Bangladesh, is an affiliated organisation to Al Qiada in Indian Subcontinent.

Two months ago, Central Intelligence Bureau had sent an alarm to Kolkata police about a possible hiding of Bangladeshi terrorists in West Bengal, who were planning a big attack. Kolkata police woke up and began searching operations.

Special Task Force of Kolkata police said both the terrorists were arrested from Kolkata railway station and that they had not possessed any passport.

“It made us believe that they infiltrated into India from Bangladesh,” said a senior officer of the STF in Kolkata.

Murlidhar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of STF, said that both the terrorists were living in South Kolkata for last one and a half year using fake Hindu names.

“We found many books, materials and map of Kolkata mentioning Eden Gardens and Esplanade Bus stand, both of which are crowded places in Kolkata,” said Sharma.

Accepting the fact that Ansarullah Bangla is affiliated to AQIS, Sharma said, “The documents are of same literature written by the Al Qaida. All of them belong to radicalism.”

However, the terrorists are believed to have been here to place order for arms from Kolkata arms dealers.

One of the arrested terrorists is Samsar Mia, who is known to be a religious ideologue of the Ansarullah Bangla Team. Samsar studied engineering in Bangladesh. The other one is Rizaul Islam, who is an arm specialist. Both of them were trying to buy arms, ammunition and explosives from Bihar and West Bengal.

An arms dealer named  Monotosh De has also been arrested. De is a resident of Basirhat, which was hit by communal clashes a few months back.

“We will also find out where all they (the terrorists) had visited. They had also possessed fake Aadhaar cards to get accommodation in Kolkata,” said an officer of STF.

Sharma said, “We have also seized laptop and pen drives. We will investigate further to know the details.”

Three years back, another Bangladeshi terror group, Neo-JMB (Jamatul Mujhahideen of Bangladesh), was found to have created more then 50 terror modules in various districts of Bengal. The Burdwan blast, in which two terrorists were killed, was the fall out of an accident due to excessive storage of explosives.

Ansarullah Bangla Team is also linked to killing of five bloggers in Bangladesh.
