As part of a new policy to attract visitors, Telangana government has decided to promote major irrigation projects in the state as tourist destinations.

The state government is in the process of constructing Mallannasagar, Yellampally, Kaleswaram, Pranahitha, Kalwakurthi and Sriram Sagar irrigation projects. Soon, they will morph into tourist spots boasting numerous facilities like water sports, boating, paragliding and cottages for tourists to stay. Also, after the recent incident in Karnataka where two stunt men lost their lives, safety is given the utmost importance before any projects are approved.

Apparently, in the past one year, Telangana has witnessed a 20 percent increase in domestic tourism which has encouraged the government to take this decision. Once the approvals are in place, the amenities will be constructed.
