In a major makeover, Telangana police will soon ride on custom-made Chinese bikes equipped with enhanced technology and other features. This would be the first time policemen in the state are provided with Fab Regal Raptor bikes for patrolling purposes.

Initially, these 320 CC bikes will be allocated only to the Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad police. The government has so far bought only ten such cruiser bikes. Regal Raptor, along with Fabulous and Beyond (FAB) Motors, has a showroom in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad—the first showroom they opened in India, in June 2015.
Each of the bike will cost around Rs 4 lakhs. They will be used only in emergency situations. There will be designated staff who will be given special training to use these bikes. The bikes will have add-on features like medium loud speakers and red and blue beacons. The front mirror will sport the Telangana police logo.
While seniors are wondering if these bikes will be of any use, youngsters will be left drooling over these bikes which can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Experts feel that these bikes will need high maintenance and that the riders will definitely need training on its mechanics.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had earlier given an uplift to the police with new vehicles which included Toyota Innova SUVs, Mahindra Scorpio SUVs and Hero CBZ X-treme bikes.
