As Telangana celebrates formation day, CM lists achievements of his govt

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Friday that the state was moving in the right direction to becoming `Bangaru Telangana.'

On the occasion of Telangana formation day, the CM said the state was number one in the country when it comes to the implementation of welfare schemes for the weaker sections of the society, adding that his government was spending Rs 40,000 crore annually on 36 welfare schemes.

Rao announced schemes for pregnant women, single women and distribution of 84 lakh sheep among yadavs and kuruma families with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore. He said he believes that sheep breeding on a large scale will lead to the state being self sufficient for meat and later will also be export the same to other states and countries.

“We are going to implement two schemes. Distribution of Rs 15,000 worth 'KCR kits' aimed at the well being of mother and child. This will come into force from tomorrow and disbursement of pension of Rs 1,000 per month for single women, who have no support, will be launched on June 4," he said.

In the 'KCR kits' scheme, pregnant women will be given financial assistance of Rs 12,000 in three phases, and an additional Rs1,000 will be given in case it is a baby girl. This way, the government wants to also encourage more people to use government hospitals.

The CM also quoted a CAG report which said Telangana stood first in revenue growth in the country by recording a growth rate of 17.82 per cent in 2016-17. "I declare proudly that it is due to proper policy planning, financial prudence and discipline of the government policies that the growth rate was achieved," he said.

He also spoke about the state receiving uninterrupted power supply and mentioned the schemes initiated by his government to strengthen rural economy.

The CM said for the very first time in the country Rs 17,000 crore crop loans of 35.30 lakh farmers were waived in Telangana. Under Mission Kakatiya, 16,000 tanks were rejuvenated and 5,000 more tanks are still to be completed, he added and promised to complete all irrigation projects in two years.
