In a faux pas, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's brother Tassaduq Mufti, who took oath as the minister, said 'dog' instead of 'God' while swearing in before quickly correcting himself.
Tassaduq and PDP legislator from Chadoora Javid Mustafa Mir were administered oath by Governor N.N. Vohra.
The only son of deceased chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was recently nominated to the state legislative council, in place of Vikramaditya Singh, who quit the party.
The opposition National Conference took to Twitter to make fun of the junior Mufti.
Junaid Azim Mattu, state spokesman of National Conference tweeted.
"I Tassaduq Hussain Mufti, swear in the name of DOG"?!?!??

NC youth leader Salam Sagar tweeted: "Give DOGS due respect, we have a government who swear by their name, not by the name of GOD, behave otherwise you can land in trouble…One thing is for sure Dog menace issue is going to remain as it is, this man is first to swear by their name has all moral obligations to save them from dog poisoning."
Earlier, the PDP had to face another embarrassment when Mehbooba condoled the death of former Chief Justice of India Justice A.S. Anand 27 days after his passing.
Mehbooba had tweeted: “Saddened to hear the demise of former chief justice of J&K high court and former CJI Justice AS Anand. Dr Anand in his long career delivered several landmark judgments and displayed deep concern towards human rights and constitutional values. Deepest condolence to his family”.
The tweet was later deleted when people began poking fun at Mehbooba.
