Prominent Tamil writer Ashokamitran passes away

In 1996, he won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of short stories 'Appavin Snegidhar'

Legendary Tamil writer Ashokamitran passed away at the age of 85 in Chennai. 

Born as Thyagarajan in Secunderabad in 1931, he has more than 220 short stories, apart from novels and novellas to his name. 

In 1996, he won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of short stories 'Appavin Snegidhar'.
