External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will lead the delegation from India that will attend the canonisation of Mother Teresa in Vatican on September 4.
This reflects the importance India gives to the event, says MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup. He added that the composition of the delegation will be announced presently.
It was earlier reported that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerji would attend the event to be held at Vatican. Swarup, however, did not confirm or deny this news.
Pope Francis will declare Mother Teresa, who founded the Missionaries of Charity, a saint at the event.
