BJP leader Subramanian Swamy says the Union government should impose President’s Rule in Kerala. Said Swamy to THE WEEK, “The latest abduction of the film actor, the killings of the BJP and the RSS workers and the rise of Islamic State in Kerala make President’s Rule essential.” He said the state government had failed to maintain law and order in Kerala.

Three men have been arrested in Kerala amid widespread protests and anger over the attack on the young female actor in a moving car in Kochi. The main accused, Pulsar Sunil, who was the former driver of the actor, is still on the run. He has filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kerala High Court and wants to prove his innocence.

Top actors in the Malayalam film industry have demanded immediate action by the government. Said the actor Mohanlal, “Such acts should be condemned vehemently, and exemplary punishment should be handed out to the culprits.”

Said actor Manju Warrier, “I met her yesterday after I came to know about the incident. I am proud of her as she is fighting back despite going through such ordeal. I pray to God that it doesn’t happen to any other girl.”
