This is a 'son-stroke' of a different kind, and it is more vicious. For, here sons are creating embarrassing scenarios for fathers, who are leaders and elected representatives of the people.
Currently, the affliction seems to have affected the Andhra Pradesh leaders.
On April 16, the Telangana police booked a case against the son of TDP leader and Union Minister for State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary for allegedly for taking part in a car race.
Sai Kartheek was driving a Porsche. With his wedding scheduled to be held on April 23, Kartheek was racing the luxury car with his friends between the busy Jubilee Hills Check Post and the KBR Park gate.
He was caught by the Banjara Hills Traffic Police, who were on a special drive to check traffic violations. Kartheek was booked under section 184 (B) of MV Act, which deals with reckless and dangerous driving.
Although he was not arrested, a fine was imposed on him. The car was apparently registered in the name of Sujana Universal Industries Limited.
In the first week of March, the Hyderabad police had booked a case against Ravela Susheel, son of Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu, for allegedly misbehaving with a woman on the road.
The police filed cases under Sections 354, 354(D) and 509 of IPC and the Nirbhaya Act.
According to the police, a CCTV footage establishes the case against the minister’s son, but both the accused and his minister father have denied it. In fact, the minister himself had handed over his son to the police claiming that his son was innocent.
Earlier in October 2014, the Guntur police booked cases against Siddhartha, son of Vijayawada legislator, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao.
He had participated in a car race near Yadlapadu in Vijayawada district. An engineering student was killed in a race. A case under Sections 304(A) and 337 of IPC were registered against Siddhartha and seven others.
Following in his brother’s footsteps, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao’s second son, Ravi Teja, was accused of holding a rally in Vijayawada city along with his friends seven months later.
Celebrating his birthday, Ravi Teja organised a motor rally through the busy MG Road, violating the several traffic rules.
