Sibling love: Chakrapani moves from TDP to YSRCP

The Nandyal by-election will be held on August 23 and this small place is agog with all the attention it is getting and all the promises that are being made. But what must have shocked people of Nandyal was the news that the TDP Kurnool district president and MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy crossed over and joined the YSRCP on Wednesday. His brother Silpa Mohan Reddy is the YSRCP candidate. Silpa Mohan Reddy had also just jumped from the TDP to the YSRCP.

The Nandyal by-polls were necessitated because of the sudden death of the sitting TDP MLA, Bhuma Nagi Reddy. Immediately after his death, the TDP requested the YSRCP not to put up a candidate, but Silpa Mohan Reddy has been decided as their candidate. The TDP decided that their candidate for the Nandyal by-polls will be Bhuma Nagi Reddy's brother’s son Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy. The late MLA's daughter, Akhila Priya, was confident that the voters would vote for TDP on sympathy.

The Telugu Desam, in fact, was making desperate attempts to hold Chakrapani Reddy back, but he proved that blood is thicker than water and decided to be on his brother’s side. Reddy sent his resignation letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and later at a press meet said that he had quit the TDP because he faced a lot of humiliation though he worked selflessly for the party. He then announced that he will gift Nandyal seat to Jagan Mohan Reddy. In true political style, the TDP leaders said they were not bothered about the exit of Chakrapani Reddy from their party and actually considered it as 'good riddance'.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is getting ready to hold a massive rally at SPG Grounds at Nandyal, on Thursday evening, where apparently he will unveil a vision for the development of the Nandyal town.
