The Samajwadi Party has entered in its 25th year of formation. On the occasion of its silver jubilee and a grand celebration in Lucknow, the whole Yadav family tried to downplay differences among them. But, speaking on the occasion, the state head of the party Shivpal Yadav indirectly attacked chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, making it clear that he was hurt by the treatment meted out on him.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav tried to dilute to differences between Shivpal and Akhilesh, making Akhilesh touch the feet of his uncle, thereby giving a message to the gathering that all was well between them. In fact, Lalu tried to play the role of mediator. But Shivpal’s statement made it clear that acerbity still remains between the uncle and nephew.

Speaking on the occasion, Shivpal could not restrain himself from attacking Akhilesh indirectly. He said, "Under no circumstance will we tolerate any insult of Netaji (Mulayam).” He added, "Some people get things by sheer luck while others work very hard throughout their life without gaining anything.” Indirectly, he referred to Akhilesh getting the post of chief minister while he himself did not get anything though he worked very hard throughout his life for building the party. During his speech ,Shivpal became emotional and clearly said, “I do not want to become chief minister. No matter how many times I am expelled from the ministry, it does not matter to me. I have taken a lot of risks, and I will work throughout for Netaji. No matter how much I am insulted, I will not utter a sigh.”

The celebrations in this regard are currently underway at Janeshwar Mishra  Park in Lucknow. Leaders from the third front  marked their presence on the occasion. Former  prime minister H.D.Deve Gowda, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Sharad Yadav arrived, but Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar stayed away from the function. Some leaders close to Shivpal, including Ahmed Hasan , Gayatri Prajapati, Om Prakash, Shadab Fatima, Narad Rai and Mata Prasad Pandey, were give prominent positions on the podium. Senior minister of Akhilesh cabinet and muslim face of the SP, Azam Khan, was conspicuous by his absence. Huge gatherings of SP workers from all over the country assembled there.

Shivpal is the main organiser of this function. Team Akhilesh, which has youth leaders expelled from the party by Shivpal, were denied any prominent place.
