Congress leader Beni Prasad Verma today said the arrest of JNUSU president on sedition charges without investigation was "wrong".

Verma, the former steel minister, said that raising anti-India slogans during the programme at JNU was "not right" but the manner in which the students union president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested was also "wrong".

"Kumar was arrested on serious allegations like sedition without investigation, which was wrong," he said.

Appreciating the budget presented by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, he said that special focus has been given on cane price dues, pension and development of backward areas.

On a question regarding leadership in Congress, he said that the party would win 2019 Lok Sabha polls under the leadership of Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
