The Supreme Court refused to entertain a plea seeking mandatory national anthem in court, after Attorney General (AG) submitted that the petitioner should file proper application, reported PTI. The apex court had earlier sought response from the AG on a petition that sought national anthem in all courts including SC and HC before start of proceedings. According to PTI, the court remarked that its order on national anthem should not be overstretched.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday had ordered that the national anthem be played in cinema halls across the country before the start of a movie. The apex court had also said everyone present at the movie hall should stand up to pay respect to it. The anthem should be accompanied by the image of the tricolor on the screen.
