Sasikala is likely to be arrested anytime and produced before the Karnataka High Court.
It was a time of high action at the Koovathur Golden Bay resort, where the men in khakhi outnumbered the AIADMK MLAs and Sasikala supporters. The mood was one of frustration and tension throughout.
Just one hour after the Supreme Court verdict, state highways minister Edappadi K.Palanisamy was chosen as Sasikala's nominee to lead the government. He was elected as the legislative party leader.
Party's new presidium chairman K.A.Sengottaiyan was seen displaying the letter of support by 129 MLAs to Palanisamy — thus changing Sasikala-OPS war to one between Panneerselvam and Palanisamy. Frustration at Koovathur was quite apparent when Sasikala, in one blanket statement, expelled all those who supported OPS.
Panneerselvam and all his supporters were expelled from the party.
Meantime, the MLAs and MPs who were at Panneerselvam's residence on the Greenways Road rushed to Koovathur to seek support for OPS from the MLAs there.
It may be recalled that Palanisamy is the fourth CM elect in the last nine months of AIADMK government — after Jayalalithaa, Panneerselvam and Sasikala.
