Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, on the eve of the party’s national convention, tried his best to dissolve the differences he has with his father Mulayam Singh Yadav by inviting him to take part in the convention and sought his blessings.

However, it is unsure if Mulayam and his brother Shivpal Yadav will attend the convention to be held on Thursday in Agra. Speaking at a press conference in Agra, Akhilesh said, “I want him to come to attend the convention. I have already sent an invitation to him, sought his blessings and would invite him once again.”

It may be recalled that owing to ongoing differences between the father and the son, both have been staying away from each others conferences for quite sometime.

At the national convention, Akhilesh will be chosen as the party’s national president once again and the party would come out with its economic, political and financial proposals besides finalising its strategy for the coming year.

About choosing Agra as the venue, Akhilesh said “Agra has always been lucky for the party and whenever some convention or meetings of the party were held here, the party politically did well in the following years.”

Taking on the saffron party, he said the BJP made hollow promises to farmers in the name of writing off their loans and virtually duped them.

He said the BJP had promised the farmers that in coming three years it would double their income and made fun of the party saying, “I would like to know the roadmap of the BJP to double the income of farmers in such a short span of time.” He added that demonetisation, GST and other policies of the BJP has not only led to economic slowdown, but have compounded problems of merchants, traders, farmers and artisans.

He said now the country wants to know “ache din kab aayenge” (when the good days will come).

He further said Yogi government in UP has failed virtually on all fronts and the development in the state has come to a complete halt.
