RSS all set for makeover, orders 10 lakh 'Khaki' trousers

INDIA-RSS/ The decision to replace shorts with trousers is seen as a move to attract more young people

As part of a major image make over, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh volunteers will soon be seen in their new uniform. According to reports, the RSS has given orders for around 10 lakh trousers to a textile company at Bhilwara in Rajasthan.

RSS officials had in March announced that they would replace their decades-old Khaki shorts with trousers. Many view this as a move to attract more young people towards the Sangh.

Reports said tailors are working day and night in the textile company to get the order completed by the Vijayadashami day in October when the Swayamsevaks will switch to the trousers.

"The new look would not only help reduce mosquito bites during the 50,000 daily outdoor shakhas, but also give the members a contemporary look."
