The unending EVM saga

Amidst allegations by the opposition that the EVMs were tampered with, the Uttarakhand High Court has given a verdict which may prove to be a big jolt for the ruling BJP government of the state.

Soon after the assembly polls in UP and Uttarakhand ,the Congress, the SP , the BSP and the AAP had accused the BJP of tampering with the EVMs.

The Uttarakhand High Court in its verdict ordered that the EVMs used in Vikasnagar assembly constituency in Dehradun be seized. Former cabinet minister Nav Prabhat had filed a writ petition before the court which mentioned that the EVMs were tampered with.

The court ordered to seal and preserve the EVMs. The petitioners had also disclosed before the court that there were bogus voters in this constituency.

If any malfunctioning is detected in the EVM after the inquiry, it will cause a huge embarrassment fot the BJP and would provide enough ammunition to the opposition to attack the ruling party.
