Deeply hurt by his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's “recalcitrant attitude”, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday shared his anguish with the party workers in Lucknow.

Baring his heart Mulayam said, “Akhilesh has become very stubborn, he is not ready to listen to me; these days he is not even ready for a dialogue, he is just following what Ram Gopal says. Though he is my son, has joined hands with my opponents.”

Mulayam revealed that he had called Akhilesh in the morning for talks at his residence but he did not turn up. Mulayam said that he would abide by the decision of the Eelection Commission. If Akhilesh would not listen to him, he would fight against his son, said the SP chief, who also urged his party workers to support him in the coming assembly polls.

Mulayam accused Akhilesh of ignoring Muslim voters. He said, “Minorities always helped us form the government, but Akhilesh is not at all concerned about their interest. When I appointed a Muslim DGP (director general of police), Akhilesh opposed that.” Mulayam claimed that he had worked for the welfare of minorities and would keep doing so.

He alleged that Akhilesh had removed many senior and important ministers who were not at fault, and said that the chief minister's decisions were wrong.

An intense family feud has been going on between senior and junior Yadavs since September last, which resulted in a coup by Akhilesh and his camp against Mulayam. Both the factions have been trying hard to take the control of the party. However, Akhilesh enjoys majority support of his legislators and ministers in this tug of war while Mulayam seems to have been isolated.
