Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's official Twitter account was hacked on Wednesday night and some expletives-laden tweets were posted.

Confirming the development, his office said efforts were being made to rectify the problem.

"Rahul Gandhi's Twitter handle has been hacked. We will file a complaint with the Cyber Cell of city police," Pranav Jha, media coordinator, Congress, said.

Rahul's account was hacked around 8.45 pm and some messages with profanities were put out, but these were deleted soon thereafter.

The hackers also removed the Congress leader's profile picture and changed the title of the account from @OfficeOfRG to an abusive one.

One of the illegal posts had abusive language like "My family is a bunch of corrupt....(expletives) retarded... (expletives)".

Congress party condemned the hacking and said such tactics would not deter Rahul Gandhi from raising people's issues.

"Such unscrupulous, unethical&roguish conduct of venal trolls 2hack @OfficeOfRG reflects disturbing insecurities of prevalent fascist culture (sic)," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a tweet.

As expected, the hacking story gave a field day for Twittarati while trollers took no time to catch the opportunity.
