Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi visited DMK chief Karunanidhi at Kauvery hospital in Chennai on Saturday. "I wanted to personally wish him a speedy recovery; happy to see that he is doing well. Doctors say that he (Karunanidhi) will go home very soon. Congress president has also sent her regards," Gandhi said after the meeting, ANI reported.

Karunanidhi, who was hospitalised on Thursday, had underwent a tracheostomy to optimise breathing. "He is stable, on antibiotics and is being treated by a team of doctors," the hospital had said in a statement.
