The results of the Assembly bypoll in R.K. Nagar may have attracted the most media attention as an independent defeated the ruling party's candidate, but it was an anomaly compared with the four other Assembly seats in three states for which counting was held on December 24. The respective ruling parties in these states won the four seats.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP retained the Sikandra Assembly seat.

The BJP's Ajit Singh Pal won the seat, securing 73, 284 votes (44.86 per cent), which was 11,861 votes more than his nearest rival, Seema Sachan of the Samajwadi Party. The seat is famous for its association with 'bandit queen' Phoolan Devi.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP won both the Pakke-Kessang and Likabali seats, which were previously held by the Congress.

B.R. Waghe of the BJP won the Pakke-Kessang seat by 475 votes, defeating Kameng Dolo of the Congress. Kardo Nyigyor of the BJP won the Likabali seat by 305 votes, defeating Gumke Riba of the PPA.

In West Bengal, Gita Bhuian of the Trinamool Congress won the bypoll to the Sabang constituency, beating her nearest rival, Rita Jana Mandol, of the CPI(M), by over 64,000 votes.
