Amid speculations over the health condition of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai for over two weeks, an expelled MP of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Monday raised questions over the “sudden” deterioration of her health and demanded a CBI probe into it.
Sasikala Pushpa, who was expelled from the AIAMDK in August, alleged that Jayalalithaa's close aide Sasikala Natarajan was now "controlling" the day-to-day affairs of the government.
“A proper enquiry must be done into her (Jayalalithaa's) health condition which deteriorated suddenly. It should be found out that whether she fell sick naturally or was forced to become sick," the Rajya Sabha MP told media in Chennai.
The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo hospital on September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration. According to the latest medical bulletin released on Saturday, the chief minister was on respiratory support and required longer stay in the hospital.
Pushpa said in the name of the chief minister, Sasikala was controlling all the officers in the state and trying to gain power within the party and the state machinery
Pushpa also demanded a probe into Sasikala's income and properties.
Earlier, in a letter to Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao, she raised concern over the possibility of some people forging the signature of Jayalalithaa.
“It is feared that some people around Tamil Nadu chief minister, now hospitalised, may forge her signature to nominate a deputy general secretary to AIADMK and to run the government also,” she said.
Pushpa urged Governor to verify “carefully” the signature of the AIADMK chief if any communication came from her.

Pushpa was expelled from the party in August after an altercation with DMK MP Tiruchi Siva at the Delhi airport.
Her letter comes amid growing demands from the opposition parties to appoint an interim chief minister to run the government.
Meanwhile, Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the hospital to enquire about the health condition of Jayalalithaa.
"All the specialists' doctors informed us that there is a good response to the treatment and she is likely to be discharged soon and soon she will take over the administration of the state," Sathasivam told the media.
