As many as 100 people from Kerala are suspected to have joined the Islamic State over the past few years, the state police said recently.

According to PTI, the police had collected evidence in this regard, including over 300 audio clips and messages from WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

The latest in this series of evidence was an audio clip from a woman, wherein she can be heard informing her relative in Kerala about the death of her husband, who had joined ISIS.

The woman can be heard saying her husband Shajil was killed recently in the 'jihadi war'. According to the audio clip, she and her two children are still in Syria, the sources said. She further said many women from Kerala have lost their husbands and children in Syria after they joined the terrorist organisation.

The voice clip was received by Shajil's brother.

According to sources, the police is also in possession of an audio clip from a person, identified as Qayoom, whose photos in ISIS uniform have been circulated on the internet, reports PTI.

Meanwhile, there have been further arrests in the state of people who have been suspected to have links to ISIS. On October 25, the state police had arrested three people from Kannur in connection with this.

The arrested, who had left Kerala years ago, were suspected to have visited Syria and have reportedly underwent training from the ISIS.
