Upholding the High Court (HC) order for a CBI inquiry, the SC has removed all bottlenecks for the investigation on Narada sting operation.
The court also came down heavily on the West Bengal government for casting aspersions on the HC judges who ordered the CBI inquiry.
CPM state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said, "We welcome it. Hope central government will not interfere in the inquiry of CBI."
Six top Trinamool Congress leaders including three cabinet ministers had allegedly been seen taking bribes in the video tape.
This is the biggest blow to Mamata Banerjee government after the chit fund scam, for which investigations are still underway.
