Darul Uloom Deoband, one of the largest Islamic seminaries in the country, has issued a fatwa, banning Muslims from sharing their photos on social media forums.

Darul Iftaa, which issues edicts for Darul Uloom Deoband based in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district, reportedly announced that Muslims—both men and women—should not share or post photos of themselves or their family members on social media as it is 'un-Islamic'.

According to media reports, a few days back, Fatwa department at Darul Iftaa was asked in a written letter if posting photos on social media is against the religion. The fatwa was issued as a response to this query.

Darul Uloom Deoband had earlier issued a fatwa, asking women to refrain from cutting hair and plucking, trimming or shaping eyebrows.
