Mufti's son Tassaduq kick-starts campaign for by-poll

Tassaduq Mufti, younger brother of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and the PDP candidate from Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, kicked off his first election campaign on Saturday by telling his supporters not to risk their lives for him on  April 12 when the constituency will witness by-poll.

“Don’t risk your lives for my win,'' Tassaduq told a gathering of PDP supporters. ''First of all, you need to protect yourself.''

He told the PDP supporters that he valued their support and cared for their lives.

''I am always with you. Be  happy and we will continue to meet,'' he said ''Inshallah, whether I become MP or not but we will win.”

The Mufti scion's concern for his supporters has come amid threats by militants against elections and poll boycott call by separatists.

An accomplished cinematographer, Tassaduq has won award for his work in film Omkara as the best cinematographer award at  Zee Cine awards

Tassaduq also worked for 2009 flick Kaminey featuring  Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra. The film did well at the box office.

Tassaduq joined the PDP on the first death anniversary of his father, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, on January 7.

In 1996, Mufti, who was with Congress then, wanted to field Tassaduq in Bijbehra during the assembly elections, but he was under-aged.  He then persuaded Mehbooba to contest and she won.
