MP Congress leaders make efforts to look united

mp-congress-leaders Congress activists taking out rallies in Madhya Pradesh

In a rare show of strength, top leaders of opposition Congress courted arrest at Bhopal during a protest against Shivraj Singh government on the inaugural day of budget session of MP assembly.

In a massive protest rally organized by low-profile state congress chief and former union minister Arun Yadav against the BJP government, former chief minister Digvijay Singh, former union minister Kamalnath and Jyotiraditya Scindia flew in specially to Bhopal to present a picture of camaraderie and fraternity.

During the rally, Congress president Arun Yadav thanked leaders for coming to state. Attacking the state government, he questioned why Prime Minister Modi was protecting 500 crore hawala accused minister Sanjay Pathak and Shivraj Singh in Vyapam scam.

Though Kamalnath and Scindia could not hide their ambition to become the state congress chief, they all posed before media as if they were one. Supporters of the two leaders clashed with each other at the airport, breaking window panes and creating problems of ordinary people.

The three senior Congress leaders have been accused of running their own groups in the state against the collective interest of the party. People of Madhya Pradesh have voted BJP thrice in the state and kept Congress in opposition, which is a divided house.

This is a second such attempt — before two years, all the leaders had reached Bhopal during Vyapam case and released documents against chief minister Shivraj Singh.

In Wednesday's rally, highly energized Congress workers created traffic jams and splashed banner-posters of their beloved leaders all over the capital. Speaking on the occasion, Digvijaya Singh alleged that chief minister Shivraj Singh and his family were involved in Vyapam, sand mining and nutrition food scam. He challenged chief minister to file a defamation case if he is proved wrong.

Scindia, too, launched a scathing attack against BJP and Modi in his unique sarcastic style.

The rally was attended by AICC general secretary Mohan Prakash, former union minister Suresh Pachouri, Kantilal Bhuria, former minister Ajay Singh and thousands of activists from all over the state
