CHANGED VISA RULES

Modi govt failed to create jobs, says Congress

The Congress hit out at the BJP government for its “failure” to create employment in the country while its citizens are facing jobs cuts abroad as other countries tighten their visa regimes.

“During the first 24 months of the BJP government, it had promised to provide 2.4 crore jobs, but it created only 4.4 lakhs jobs. Modi government had failed to keep its promise it had made during its election campaign,” Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said here.

The Congress further charged that Government has failed to engage with the US and the Australian governments after they changed their job visa rules.

“Every employment opportunity is extremely precious. It is in this context that the decision taken by Trump administration to drastically scale HB1 visa programme and Australian government to scrap 457 temporary work visa is extremely disappointing,” Tewari said, adding that it was more disappointing that the NDA government, which had made tall promises to young Indians in election campaign, failed to act.

The Modi government has completely and utterly failed to work with Australian and American governments and convey them the Indian point of view, the Congress leader said.

They are wasting time on medieval issues, focussing on economic crisis engulfing the country. Young Indians are unforgiving to those who do not fulfill their promises, he reminded the government.
