Uttar Pradesh's Mathura on the boil over an anti-encroachment drive that went awry. At least 22 people including a Superintendent of Police and an SHO have been killed and over 200 people have been detained in connection with the violence.

But, actress-turned-politician Hema Malini was living in an air bubble even as her Lok Sabha constituency Mathura was rocked by violence. Unmindful of what was happening in her constituency, the actress was busy tweeting about her new film, for which she was shooting at in Mumbai's Madh Island.

In a series of tweets she shared photos and posts capturing her experience of motorised boat rides to Madh Island from mainland Mumbai.

"Hoping for an early release of this film," she captioned a photo Twitter.

However, the air bubble was busted when media outlets started pointing out her faux pas. She came back to reality and switched to damage control mode soon and deleted the tweets regrading her film.

Then, she tweeted expressing her shock and condolence over the lives lost in the Mathura violence.

“I just came bk frm Mathura & got the news of the violence tht has taken place there in which policemen have lost their lives,” she posted on her Twitter account.

After more than 12 hours, she gave her first response to the violence that took place in her constituency, implying that she was not aware of the news, which makes her case even worse.

“So so upset by ths news frm a place which is so dear to me Will go there again if my presence is required. My heart goes out to the bereaved,” she added.
