A massive fire broke out at a slum near Behrampada locality near Mumbai's Bandra station on Thursday, forcing railway authorities to halt train services on the Harbour line.
The fire broke out near the east side of Bandra local station during a demolition drive carried out by the municipal corporation, a railway official said.
As many as 16 fire engines and 12 water tankers have been rushed to the spot. Two people have sustained injuries in the fire.
An official of the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) said, "The fire is confined to few hutments in area of about 300x300 and skywalk of railway station."
He also said the fire was spreading towards south, north and east side.
The chief PRO of the Central Railway said, "We have stopped Harbour line up and down services from 4.25 pm as a precautionary measure owing to fire near the Bandra station on the east side.
