West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, on Friday, extended an olive branch to BJP and asked it to remove the prime minister.

Mamata, apparently confirming that he is not against BJP but Modi, said, “I have no problem if BJP leads another government. But it has to change the prime minister.”

“I will ask president of India to take action to save the country. I have no issues if L.K. Advani or Arun Jaitley or Rajnath Singh becomes prime minister. I am not against these people,” Mamata said on the sidelines of her administrative meeting at Town hall.

The BJP laughed at Mamata by saying the chief minister was out to divide the BJP.

“But she will not succeed because BJP is not like her party. Modiji was our prime ministerial candidate before election. We won under his leadership and our government is doing excellent work under him,” said Rahul Sinha, national secretary of BJP.

Another BJP leader said, “Tomorrow, if we say we want to change Mamata Banerjee and make Subrata Mukherjee as chief minister — how will she react?”

Mamata wanted to shift the focus from chit fund scam to demonetisation again.

She said around 1.8 lakh people of Bengal are in distress because of Modi’s “dreadful” policy.

“Around 85 lakh people have lost their jobs in Bengal,” she said.

The chief minister also said West Bengal has lost around Rs 5500 crore this year due to demonetisation effect.
