West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday met arrested Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhya, who is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubneswar.

Mamata has arrived in the city on a three-day tour to Odisha. The chief minister said she gave the MP a diary and a pen to write about his woes and pain.

"He was crying incessantly. He is not taking food and lost around 18 kg weight. I gave him a dairy and a pen and asked him to write about the pain in his life," Mamata told reports outside the hospital.

Bandyopadhya was arrested by the CBI for his alleged links with the Rose Valley chit fund scam. Another party MP Tapas Pal was also arrested by the probe agency in connection with the case.

Mamata said she was grateful to the judges who gave her permission to meet the leader.

"I was shocked to see him this way. His condition is very bad. Sudip da is my old party mate," said she.

Mamata said if time permits she would meet Odisha Chief Minister Navin Pattanaik.

"I also wish to visit Lord Jagannath temple in Puri," she said.

Meanwhile, an organiser of Jagannath temple opposed Mamata's visit saying the person who did namaz should not be given a chance to offer puja of Lord Jagannath.
