West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Ravana and said that the Ramayana character also had wide chest and broad shoulder which Modi claimed to have.

“Our prime minister speaks while clapping. He says he has a broad shoulder and a big chest. Yes, Ravana also had broad shoulder and wide chest,” Mamata said addressing a rally in front of the eastern headquarters of the Central Bureau of Investigation in Kolkata.

The Trinamool Congress supremo also claimed that the central government tried to kill her through air crash.

“Just imagine, my life was at stake. They only suspended two pilots and did nothing else. Pilots blamed air traffic controller and vice versa,” said Mamata, referring to the incident in which a private airline plane carrying the chief minister hovered for over half an hour in the sky before landing at Kolkata airport, though the plane was flying short on fuel.

Mamata went on with her tirade against Modi and called the prime minister as today’s “Jallahad” (executioner).

She cited names of her partymen, who, according to her, are possibly under the scanner of the CBI, and claimed they did nothing wrong.

“What Mukul, Sovon, Subhendu, Bobby, Satabdi and Rituparna did? They did nothing wrong,” said the chief minister.

Mukul Roy and Subhendu Adhikary are party MPs and  Sovon Chatterjee is mayor of Kolkata. Bobby Hakim is a minister while Satabdi Roy is an actor-turned-politician and MP.  Leading Bengali actor Rituparna Sengupta, however, is not a party member.

Stepping up her offensive against the demonetisation decision, Mamata asked the people not to go for plastic cards for money transactions.

“I am warning you, don’t do that. Your entire savings will go away. Rely on cash economy. It’s safe,” said Mamata.
