Kiran Kumar Reddy likely to return to active politics

There are indications that former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy may return to active politics after a three year-long sabbatical.

Reddy was seen at the Gurramkonda panchayat office in his home constituency of Piler along with panchayat, mandal and district level leaders. When asked about his return to politics, he was rather cryptic with his responses. “The marriage alliance is almost finalised. Wait for the wedding invite. Even I am eagerly waiting for the muhurtham to tie the knot”.

The creation of Telangana when he was the chief minister is said to have dented his political image although he couldn't do much to oppose the same, with the Congress high command playing the puppeteer. This was one of the reasons for his resignation as chief minister.

Rumours have it that Reddy has no plan to come back to the Congress. He could be joining either the BJP or the YSR Congress Party as these are the two options left for him if he decides not to return to the Congress fold.

There are reports that he is close to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi is believed to have called him, asking him to take a more active role in the party's affairs.

While his joining any political party would not create any political upheaval, he could certainly play a major, behind-the-curtain-role.
